    Hopitaux de Toulouse

At the heart of Occitanie region and of a city with high population growth rates, Toulouse University Hospital  (UH) is the care structure of reference. With 5 sites throughout the city, Toulouse UH is the largest public employer in the region. Its care, prevention, teaching and research missions are carried out by 3,800 doctors and 11,700 hospital staff (totalling around 15,500 people dedicated to health services).

With 280,000 patients and 820,000 consultations each year, Toulouse UH is the fourth major French hospital in terms of activity. Being the only UH in the Occitanie region, referral cares represent over 50% of its activity thanks to technical facilities and high level staff. Toulouse UH coordinates nationally or takes part in 8 rare diseases centres of reference and 34 centres of competences. Toulouse UH has been a leader for 21 years in health care sectors in national press rankings.

Our center is a major actor in oncology: cancer treatment accounts for 25% of its activity; in 2014, UH worked together with its public and private partners, mainly the Claudius Regaud Institute, to form the Toulouse University Institute for Cancer (IUCT) which is a new French organizational model for health care, research and teaching in oncology. This network of public and private services enables to strengthen standards of care in the region and to to provide patients with the best skills and the latest innovative treatments near home.

Innovation is one of our main goals; for example, historical expertise in telemedicine enables the building of  hospital of tomorrow close to home thanks to innovative technologies (Diabsat, Osicat…), and all health and industry partners. Research and innovation missions are integral parts of UH daily activity and future strategy. They are carried out in close collaboration with universities and research institutions such as the National Institute for Health and Medical Research (Inserm) and the National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS). Toulouse UH staff also manage numerous projects with pharmaceutical and medical devices companies, associations and other hospital centers.

As an actor in education, Toulouse UH is a partner of Medicine (Purpan and Rangueil), Pharmacy and Dental Surgery Universities (units of Toulouse III-Paul Sabatier university). Toulouse UH takes part in graduate and post-graduate teaching for hospital and non-hospital practitioners. Opened in 2015, the Regional Education and Training Center for Health Professions (PREFMS) is a campus which gathers 11 schools and institutes dedicated to the training for Toulouse UH health professions.
